How to Safely Pack Your Device

Proper packing ensures your device arrives safely and your offer doesn't change due to shipping damage.

Following these steps is the best way to protect your item during transit. We are not responsible for damage that occurs due to poor packing.

Laptops, MacBooks, and Tablets

  1. Find a Sturdy Box: Use a new or like-new corrugated cardboard box that is at least 2-3 inches larger than your device on all sides. Do NOT use old, damaged, or thin boxes (like cereal boxes).
  2. Wrap the Device: Wrap your laptop or tablet in at least 2-3 layers of bubble wrap. Pay extra attention to the corners.
  3. Create a Cushion: Fill the bottom of the box with 2-3 inches of packing material (bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or crumpled paper).
  4. Secure the Device: Place your wrapped device in the center of the box. Fill ALL remaining empty space (top, bottom, and all four sides) with more packing material. Your device should not be able to slide or move *at all* inside the box. This is the most important step.
  5. Seal It Tight: Tape all seams of the box (top and bottom) with strong packing tape. Give the box a gentle shake. If you feel *any* movement, open it and add more packing material.

Gaming PCs (Desktops)

Desktops are fragile and heavy. They require extra care.

  • Use the Original Box: If you still have the original box and foam inserts, this is by far the best and safest option.
  • If No Original Box: Follow the same steps as for a laptop, but use a heavy-duty, double-walled box. Use foam or multiple layers of bubble wrap.
  • Internal Components: If you have a large, heavy graphics card (GPU) or CPU cooler, it can sometimes come loose and damage your motherboard. We recommend removing the GPU, wrapping it in an anti-static bag and bubble wrap, and packing it in a separate box (which you can put inside the main box).

Cell Phones

  • Use a small, sturdy box (not a padded envelope).
  • Wrap the phone in several layers of bubble wrap.
  • Fill all empty space in the box so the phone cannot move.
  • Seal the box securely with packing tape.
